“I’m really sorry guys, but I can’t make it”. Up until Friday night, everything had been perfect. For a moment it seemed that the Pan-American Debate Championships in Vancouver were going to flow smoothly. But then came Jason and his God-bless Korean “all you can eat” grill. To make the story short, at around 11pm the day before the competition, we were informed by the hospital that Jason had a high probability of appendicitis, and that there was absolutely no way he was going to debate at all. Our team, in a span of 30 seconds, had shrunk from three to two. Quick fact about debate: You NEED three people in the team, or you simply don’t compete.
